Recycling is a high-growth area for the future, fitting perfectly with the broader trend towards a circular, low-carbon economy. In Hydro, Recycling is Primary Metal’s business unit (BU) for all recycling activities within the business area, covering seven recycling casthouses, a scrap processing plant and coordination of scrap sourcing.

The BU is also the home of the Recycling Center of Excellence (CoE) in Hydro, playing an important role in Hydro’s strategy to grow significantly within recycling of post-consumed scrap in the years to come and supporting Hydro’s overall sustainability and profitability ambition. Hydro’s greener product offering CIRCAL is produced in the BU.

To strengthen our team we are looking for a new
Plant Manager (m/f/d) Dormagen Recycling

Responsibilities in this position

  • Ensure safe and healthy operations of the plant
  • Develop plant objectives and business plans in line with Hydro’s overall strategy and the Recycling business unit’s growth strategies and plans
  • Drive business performance, change and improvements
  • Develop the organization and workforce competence to meet current and future needs
  • Manage operations to increase quality, productivity and optimize raw material utilization
  • Manage and develop internal and external communication
  • Represent the plant to external stakeholders and the local community
  • Ensure compliance to company, local, national and European rules and regulations
  • Ensure open dialogue and engagement with trade unions and works council

Qualifications that will help you get ahead

  • Min. bachelor’s degree in relevant discipline or similar
  • Relevant eadership experience and demonstrated leadership skills
  • Excellent communications skills and fluency in German and English oral and written
  • Experience from aluminium industry and/or sorting operation is preferred
  • Strong business understanding, preferably also specific knowledge to scrap generation and circular economy
  • Strong HSE track record
  • Experience with Lean manufacturing
  • A strategic and commercial mindset

  • Some travel may be expected (includes domestic and international travel)
