Quantitative Trader

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Background & purpose of role:
CMC Markets Germany GmbH requires a Quantitative Trader to join the dealing team. This will be hybrid trading / quantitative analysis, primarily focusing on Index, Commodity, Treasury and Foreign Exchange assets. This will be a varied and fast paced role covering the most valuable assets to the business. The individual over time will be required to acquire a deep understanding of market risk, managing a wide variety of instruments whilst adhering to the company’s risk policy and capital constraints.
Key responsibilities:
- Manage the exposure in line with strategies implemented to maximise revenue efficiency
- Liaise with Quant Trading Managers to understand and implement the global risk strategy
- Closely monitor client flow and systems for threats to revenue, understand the drivers behind the inherited risk and mitigate potential arbitrage opportunities
- Work alongside London based Quant, Data Science and Trading teams to develop and back-test new risk management strategies
- Work with Development team to implement pricing and risk components; improve automated tools to aid monitoring and alerting in relation to key trading metrics (PnL, fill rates signals, volumes etc). and provide quality assurance to system changes before their release to live environments
- Generate future enhancement requests for the AutoHedge and Phantom applications, to ensure that all required functionality is in place to maximise revenue efficiency
- Take ownership of the entire lifecycle of algo feature delivery, including documentation, quality assurance, and transaction cost analysis, involving close interactions with the development team.
- Work with Asia Pacific Trading desk and ensure continuity of trading functions
- Be able to interpret and present data. Help compile monthly P&L reports for management
- Adhere to compliance and company procedure
- Knowledge of how CMC Index, Commodity, Treasury and FX products are priced and a thorough understanding of the infrastructure and procedures required to derive our prices
- Be a point of contact for other departments including Operations, Trading Applications Support, Business Intelligence, Customer Services and Sales
- Maintain personal/professional development to meet the changing demands of the role, including all relevant regulatory and legislative training
- When dealing with all customers, clients or colleagues ensure that we provide a clear, fair and consistent high quality service that presents a professional and positive image of CMC Markets
- Take all reasonable steps to ensure appropriate confidentiality
- Undertake such other duties, training and/or hours of work as may be reasonably required and which are consistent with the general level of responsibility of this role
KEY SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
- A graduate degree in quantitative finance, mathematics, computer science or equivalent disciplines
- Strong analytical and quantitative skills
- Excellent knowledge of general financial products, including but not limited to futures and FX spot
- Strong experience with Excel and Python, but knowledge of Matlab or R is beneficial
- Good knowledge of SQL and time-series databases desirable
- Strong communication skills and ability to multi task
- Knowledge of Reuters / Bloomberg information systems.
