Canada’s official representation in Germany includes the Embassy of Canada in Berlin, as well as consulates in Düsseldorf and Munich. Members of the team work in a fast-paced multidisciplinary and international environment. The role of the three offices and their more than 100 Canada based and locally-engaged staff is to develop the relationship between Canada and Germany across a number of areas.

Canada’s Trade Commissioner Service (TCS) is a worldwide network of professionals in international business development (IBD), with preferred access to business knowledge and contacts, who are committed to advancing Canadian commercial and economic interests abroad. This position contributes to the delivery of the IBD program at the mission by delivering services to clients in accordance with TCS policies and guidelines, and Government of Canada policies and priorities for international trade, investment, and innovation, with the objective of helping Canadian clients make better business decisions abroad. All Government of Canada employee activities are governed by the Government of Canada’s Code of Values and Ethics.

The Trade section in Berlin is seeking:

Trade Program Assistants (m/f/d)

Under the direct supervision of the Senior Trade Commissioner at the Embassy of Canada in Berlin, the Trade Program Assistants provide daily administrative support and services; provides and creates information and documentation; provide support for on-going trade program activities; respond to service requests from clientele and perform other duties as required.

The three positions are all indeterminate. Two positions are part-time (50%, 18.75 hours per week) and one position is full-time (37.5 hours per week). The starting salary for a part-time position is 18,979 Euros gross per annum. The starting salary for a full-time position is 37,958 € gross per annum. In addition to the annual salary there is a 13th month's salary and an employer’s contribution to the pension plan. For a full-time position, the incumbent receives 30+1 days of annual leave (30 full days of vacation and one floating day) for a 5 days working week. This entitlement is pro-rated accordingly for the part-time positions.

Essential qualifications include a completed post-secondary degree or an equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience. The ideal candidate has a minimum of two years full/part-time work experience in an administrative position and knowledge of computer software (MS Office Suite, email, spreadsheets, Internet search) and of standard office procedures and practices.

In addition, the ideal candidate has a fluent level of English and German (written and oral).
